Railway Safety in conjunction with the University of Sheffield are pleased to invite you to the 8th International Level Crossing Symposium to be held in Sheffield, the gateway to the Pennines from the 14th - 16th April 2004. A one-day seminar entitled 'Managing Trespass' will be held in conjunction with the symposium on the 13th April 2004. Building on the success of previous Level Crossing Symposium's held in the USA and Australia the 8th Symposium will be held for the first time in Europe in April 2004.

The symposium provides an exciting and stimulating platform from which to discuss advances in level crossing technology and operation, aiming to promote best practice, develop international communities and share
international dialogue on level crossing issues. The symposium boasts an interesting technical programme and a variety of speakers, who will provide expert views on the key issues surrounding risk management at level
crossings today.

In a central position within the UK, Sheffield has excellent travel connections including a direct link to Manchester International Airport and a fast train service to London; surrounded by beautiful countryside it is an ideal location
for the International Level Crossing Symposium.

I look forward to seeing you in Sheffield.

With best wishes
